Great things are happening on Daufuskie Island.  The other day the first lot sold in the Melrose Community of Daufuskie Island.  This would not be such a noteworthy event except that it sold on the news that the resort was under new ownership.  While there are some things which will never change on Daufuskie Island like a walk hand in hand on the beach, a ride side by side in a golf cart or time together, Daufuskie has some new additions including faster communication and whole lot of new energy.

Faster communication to Daufuskie Island

Let’s face it, the internet is changing how and where people can live.  Used to be that in order to go to work, you had to travel to an office.  The internet gives us a chance for the office to travel to us without ever leaving our home.  This is the green light many have been waiting for in order to live in a place of their dreams, where the quality of life was not limited to weekends.  Although Daufuskie offers networks now, plans are underway by Hargray to install fiber optic cable from Hilton Head to Daufuskie Island in the coming year.  This will offer faster communication and internet services and will be a major benefit to the internet workforce that chooses quality of life over urban life.

Faster travel time to Daufuskie Island

Someday an embarkation site from Savannah will reduce transportation time for visitors, workers and residents traveling to Daufuskie.  An embarkation from the Savannah area is closer to a major airport, reduces travel time from the major markets in Atlanta and Macon and will take less time to reach for the travelers from the north (Charlotte, DC, Columbia, etc) I-95.   The combined savings of time varies, but it will save approximately 30 minutes  or more in utilizing a Savannah to Daufuskie Island transportation system.  In fact, there is an ongoing effort of officials in South Carolina and Georgia to create a regional ferry system.  This could tie together Daufuskie Island to Savannah, Hilton Head, Beaufort, Tybee and Bluffton.

New Energy to Daufuskie Island

The new group that has purchased the Inn, the Pro-shop, Jacks and the Melrose Golf Course brings to Daufuskie Island some great new energy.  Already this energy helped a buyer make the decision to purchase property in Melrose whether for future use or speculation, this is positive momentum.  This new energy will help others take interest in and discover Daufuskie Island.  If you would like to research property on Daufuskie Island, please email me at robbie@robbiebunting.com or contact me at (843)842-0803 .  You can begin your search by clicking here at Daufuskie Island Homes or Daufuskie Island Land.  Thank you.
