Hilton Head by Boat
If you have not seen Hilton Head from the water, you have not seen Hilton Head. To begin this adventure visit one of the Island marinas that offer power boat, paddle board and kayak rentals. The inland waters surrounding Hilton Head are easy to navigate with local charts, GPS and guidance that comes with your rental. Hilton Head marinas are located on the sunset side of the Island. These marinas are unique and some offer great waterfront dining opportunities. Marina and Island hopping is lot of fun with family and friends.
Marinas on Hilton Head Island from toe to heal include
- South Beach Marina – Home of the Salty Dog. This marina offers outside dining, a general store and wonderful restaurants in a “New England Style Village”.
- Harbourtown – Home to the Lighthouse. This marina is a great place to enjoy a sunset at the Quarterdeck.
- Shelter Cove – Home to Neptune. This village includes great restaurants along the promenade. ELA’S offers free docking when secured with a
dinner reservation….experience the sensation of ELA’S - Broad Creek Marina – Home to ZipLine. Great place to get a barbeque sandwich or burger.
- Palmetto Bay Marina – Home to Black Marlin. Great place to rent a boat or tie up for lunch.
- Boathouse, Hudson’s and Chart House – Popular restaurant on the waterfront and docks to tie up to.
- Skull Creek Marina – Home to Freedom Boat Club. Great place to stop for gas before heading to Beaufort. No dining at this location.
Great Places to Island Hop from Hilton Head to:
- Freeport Marina – Tie up, rent a golf cart and go explore Daufuskie’s Beaches and local Artists
- Public Landing – Tie up and grab a great lunch or dinner at Marshside Mamas, real nice sunsets from here!
- Palmetto Bluff – Tie up and grab lunch at Buffalos or at the Inn.
- The Sandbar – A Low Country tradition at low tide. Anchor off the Sandbar and hang out.
- Bluffton Oyster Company – A great place to buy locally caught seafood
- Savannah – Tie up to River Street and enjoy lunch or street performances
- Beaufort Waterfront- Tie up, head to Plums for lunch. Take a carriage ride or shop on Main Street.
