The best Hilton Head Island purchase we ever made was “Ol’ Bessie”.  That is what my wife and kids named our 1991 club car golf cart.  When we purchased her in 1993, she had already been set out to pasture by a golf course in the north east and we were told because the seasons were shorter up there, she still had a lot of life in her.  We added the back seat kit and the top and she is still going strong.  Besides golf, there are many reasons to own or rent a golf cart in the Hilton Head or Bluffton areas. Located 70 miles off our coast is the gulf stream, Hilton Head’s guardian angel.  Storms in the past that have hit the gulfstream get bumped north and because Hilton Head is in the cove of the coast it has missed us.  The gulf stream also keeps Hilton Head temperatures warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Great things are happening on Daufuskie Island.  The other day the first lot sold in the Melrose Community of Daufuskie Island.  This would not be such a noteworthy event except that it sold on the news that the resort was under new ownership.  While there are some things which will never change on Daufuskie Island like a walk hand in hand on the beach, a ride side by side in a golf cart or time together, Daufuskie has some new additions including faster communication and whole lot of new energy. My coach corrected me other day when I told him that we were asking some silly asking prices on some of the properties around Hilton Head and Daufuskie Island.  He told me to take “silly” out of my presentation and replace it with “fair market value”  I had been protecting myself and my sellers from reality by using the word “silly”.  Made me think about all the sellers that had told me that they will “wait it out” because they were not going to “give” their property away.   Read the rest of this entry
